What Tommyrotter adds is the finish. The blended bourbon spends three months in French oak barrels that previously held Heritance Cabernet Sauvignon, the Taub Family Selections wine from Rutherford in the heart of Napa Valley, before bottling at 95 proof (47.5% ABV). The wine barrels push the bourbon toward dark fruit: Breaking Bourbon's review of Batch No. 4 found raisin, black cherry and plum on the nose, plum, warm spice, vanilla, seasoned oak and burnt brown sugar on the palate, and a slightly dry finish of prune and leather with decent length.
