Belfour Rye Whiskey

Belfour Rye Whiskey comes from Belfour Spirits, founded in Louisville, Kentucky, by Hall of Fame goaltender Ed Belfour and his two children, who spent years studying whiskeymaking before launching the brand. The rye is produced in partnership with Southern Distilling in North Carolina from a 70% rye, 20% corn, 10% malted barley mashbill, aged in Belfour's own barrels and bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof).

Drinkhacker rated it a B+, describing fruity and spicy aromatics from vanilla to black pepper, a palate of burnt caramel, bacon fat and black tea balanced by toasted-coconut sweetness, and a finish of nougat and red pepper. Belfour describes burnt sea-salted vanilla caramel, cinnamon and white pepper on the nose, sweet caramel and butterscotch on the palate, and a warm finish that turns to refreshing mint.
