Number Juan Reposado Tequila

Number Juan is the tequila brand founded in 2012 by longtime friends and comedians Ron White and Alex Reymundo, made at NOM 1531 in Jalisco. Like the rest of the range it starts with 100% blue Weber agave that the brand allows to mature seven years before harvest, cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed on a roller mill, fermented in stainless steel and double distilled in stainless pot stills using spring water from the Tequila volcano. Where most reposados get a few weeks or months in a single barrel type, Number Juan rests this one a full nine months in a blend of French and American white oak, close to the one-year line where a tequila becomes an añejo. The brand's pitch is that it carries the body and character of most añejos while keeping the brighter agave of a reposado, and the published notes are caramel and oak layered over the cooked agave. It's bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The long rest gives it enough depth to sip neat or over a large cube, and it's a strong choice for a reposado Old Fashioned or a richer, rounder margarita.
